  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I was already relatively proficient with using excel, before joining Motts, however due to being a quantity surveyor excel is the main program of use, and over my time and Mott Macdonald I have seen a real development within my excel skills and competences.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Overall, I have been really enjoying my programme, the content we have been covering is engaging and related to my line of work. The workload is quite substantial, so balancing work, studies and social life is a real skill, but you get out what you put in, and once you learn to balance those three aspects then you will really begin to thrive.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The workload is quite substantial, so balancing work, studies and social life is quite a challenge. The course is also fully online, which means that there is no in-person lectures or seminars. Personally, I don't mind it being online, but some people may prefer a more in-person experience.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support i receive from my employer is great, both the early career professionals and senior colleagues are more than happy to offer support with our modules and they have even set up assignment help sessions to offer support and ideas for when we are writing our assignments

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • You are assigned an AOO (Apprenticeship Outcome Officer) when you start your qualification who will help you through your course and through the APC process. They set up quarterly reviews to help track your progress and answer any questions you may have, and they tailor these so that you meet the requirements of not only your course but the APC process.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I would say that the modules that I have been taught so far relate pretty closely to the type of work I am undertaking at the moment. The main module so far being Contract Administration due to working on projects that use the NEC form of contract, and covering this type of contract within that module allowed me to further understand the different contract types, how they differ etc.
