  • New skills: Bentley Microstation, Openroads ProjectWise workflow Communication & collaborating with different disciplines & client interface Utilities knowledge CAD project management knowledge

  • Great, good exposure to all disciplines and industry from contractor to designer. Would like more experience on Project Management / Budgeting / Contracts

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At university, it was structured well until Covid hit in 2020 March - Lectures would vary by day & I would only know my lecture schedule 2 weeks beforehand.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot - variety of people around me to help and consistent upper management support for ICE progress.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Consistent every 6 week "check-in" meetings to check progress. Often had ICE development members visit throughout University & contact us after for entering Gateway for IEng.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Better understanding of engineering knowledge, thought process. Better foundation for understanding terminology and project requirements & a gave me a well balanced approach to variety of schemes with well rounded knowledge.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, annual sports events, bi-annual social meetings with entire office (50 people) and bi-monthly or monthly get-togethers within my team (14 people). Plenty of professional networking events throughout the year.

  • Yes

  • Employee-owned shows how everyone helps eachother to thrive. Plenty of career opportunities abroad and at home. Great company to work for with lots of talent around.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mott MacDonald?
  • Try get into the internship programme to make yourself known to the company & peers. Also, try gain experience at a consultancy firm before applying to see if you will fit in well with the role.
