  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I was involved in the testing of projects for e.g. when L’Oréal introduce new brands we have to test the sales and distribution side of the business. I was in contact with supply planners, customer masterdata and IT a lot which was all internally.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed detailed knowledge of various systems such as SAP, HIP, Sales Force and others. I am currently also involved with workshops for the new staff shop project, all of which has provided me with experience of system improvement. I am accustomed to working towards tight deadlines, a key feature of my current role when performing daily checks etc and delivering projects on time.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as I get to be involved with high profile projects and work together with my team. I have been given more responsibility over time which has helped me develop my confidence and problem solving skills. I have been a mentor and given training to new staff which I have also enjoyed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In the beginning it was very well organised and I was clear on what lessons I had to complete and for which deadline with monthly catch ups with my tutor. Once I had completed the lessons I had to create reports with evidence of the skills I have developed on and this was all self organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer gave lots of support with my apprenticeship. Whether that be allocated time to block out day to day work and focus on my studies, or helping me with ideas for evidence I can use in my reports as she was the one who mentored me through all the projects I had been on.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support was there from my training provider if I needed and at the start it was really useful for me as he provided me with all the documents and guides I needed for my report building. In the middle of my apprenticeship I would only have a catch up every 1-2 months as it was not always needed from my side.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It was difficult with the apprenticeship I was on as it didn't relate to my job role 100% but it did tie in to a few projects I was working on so I had to build on that a bit more to help me pad out the evidence. Analysing the work I had done or was currently doing helped me perform better in my role as it made me ask questions that might not have come up before and overall gave me a deeper understanding to what I was working on.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes. There are baking competitions, charity events to get involved with, Christmas parties, sport events for e.g. the distribution netball or football team, work lunches, team days out and there are opportunities to go to different distribution centres for e.g. Nottingham, Trafford park in Manchester, and even London.
