  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, as this is still my first year I have gained a basic understanding of my job role and developed many skills that will benefit me throughout my career. Two of the many skills I have developed since starting is how to use Excel and also how to communicate effectively within the office.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying the apprenticeship program that BAM has to offer. This involves the 9 week college block up in Leeds and also the time spent on my site placement in Euston.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • This program is well organised as we go to college once a year up in Leeds for a 9 week period. Within this 9 week block we carry out our lectures and complete the compulsory units which I believe is better than day release as we can focus on our full time site-placement when back from the college block.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support from our employer; especially since BAM have their own Early Careers team dedicated to supporting us and offering any aid where possible. We are also often sent out optional reading material and events that may interest and benefit us which BAM are more than happy to let us attend within work hours such as those during Construction Week.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our training provider has multiple meetings with us throughout the year in order to check in and make sure that we are keeping up with the amount of evidence that must be provided by the end of our course.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAM to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend BAM to anyone interest in going through the apprenticeship route. This is because they genuinely want all of their apprentices to succeed alongside having employee career progression as a key focal point across the business. Furthermore, since joining the commercial team on Euston everyone has been extremely welcoming and always willing to offer a hand if I need a question answering.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • I would say to answer the questions in the interview stage as honestly as possible and to do some research on the companies values and projects.
