  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role of a learning coach is to use my industry knowledge and skills to support my learners through their apprenticeship journey and to help them get the most out of their apprenticeship journey. I help them to achieve their full potential and open up career opportunities and make sure they know where their apprenticeship can take them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots about safeguarding and what signs and symptoms to look out for - this also includes active listening to make sure that I am really listening to what they are saying. I have also learnt to have difficult conversations and how to set goals with my learners to ensure they are doing what they need to be doing. I have also really developed my time management skills and learnt about prioritising my workload.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy the learning and love developing myself and seeing the impact that this has on my day to day work and the impact that this has on my learners. I feel that it is broken down in to manageable sections and my learning coach is on hand to support me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think that it is very well structured and organised, there seems to be a really great flow to the modules and the learning and it is easy to see where it fits in with my day to day development. I like that the modules are broken down in to manageable chunks that enable me to stay on track.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel like this is very similar to the last question but they are very supportive. They always allow me the time that I need to finish the work that i need to do and the off the job training. They encourage us to work in different departments and with different people to really learn.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that without this qualification I would not be able to do my job - It has really helped me to become a great coach and to develop great rapport with managers and learners and has made sure that I am able to give a really great quality experience too.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I wouldn't really say there are many extra curricular activities but working remotely means that my team are based in all different parts of the country. This would make it really difficult as I wouldn't travel to Birmingham for a game of netball or Networking event for example.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lifetime to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They have amazing virtual classrooms to support with my maths and english. My tutor is amazing and really supports me. They have additional support available for mental health needs. I have done an apprenticeship with another provider that was online based and Lifetime see us face to face. It makes a big difference.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lifetime?
  • Make sure that you are staying on top of logging your off the job training as it really makes things much easier and ensures that you are able to develop and aren't chasing your tail. Make sure that when you commit to appointments and sessions you are able to attend them as when it is delayed it can hinder your development.
