  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to help in the kitchen with my collegues preparing and presenting food for customers. I also help with cleaning and organising for close downs and openings in the kitchen. And also with putting away deliveries and counting stock. We all work as a team to present quality food to paying customers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills while i have been at my new apprentiship. This is things like learning new skills with knives or learning different cooking techniques such as how to score your meat before cooking to ensure it is cooked evenly through out the meat and is presentable to customers.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot as i am 17 and this is my first job so it is my first time being in this environment and learning how other people work and how to work together to make all of our jobs that little bit easier for us all.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that my programme is very organised and structured as we have a certain way we like to work and we keep it that way so that everyone in the kitchen is on the same page as eachother and nothing is over complicated this just makes things in the kitchen more presentable too.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I would say i receive a good amount of support from my employer but not so much my trainer from my apprentiship. My employer has been straight forward with what they need me to do and the communtication is great and i understand what needed from me. Not so much from my trainer.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification will help better with my role because i will be learning seperate things in my qualification that will then help me when i am at work and i can actually practice these things i have been learning about through my apprentiship and notice certain things around the kitchen.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Marston's to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend marstons because i know how they treat their workers and it is really good so if they treat their workers that good then the customer service is going to be just as good so i would recommend people to get a job or even to just go eat at one of their pubs.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marston's?
  • I would give them advice saying to just get the job with them because i know its good. I dont think i would need to give them too much advice though as it is pretty straight forward when you get the job and their is nothing too complicated about it.
