  • I am the clinical lead for Pre-Assessment at Kettering General Hospital, I monitor and manage the patient pathways, ensuring that my team deliver safe, efficient patient assessments.

  • I have learned a great deal about operational planning, managing teams and stakeholder analysis and engagement.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This programme has been a fabulous opportunity to develop a skill set essential to my role and has provided me with the tools to navigate challenging situations

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have no concerns, the pace of delivery was measured and communication with my tutor was timely and supportive, especially where working demands impacted on submission timelines

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received the recommended study time and opted to take it fortnightly as a study day as opposed to a morning or afternoon session. Unfortunately, working in healthcare there were occasions where I had to cancel the study time to ensure patient safety requirements were met.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I found my tutor to be approachable and supportive throughout- we had regular catch ups and email communication as required for additional queries

  • Having the understanding of operational management principles has helped focus my work planning, communication/leadership style and team development - understanding the models and methodologies has influenced my practice and improved my overall performance and productivity resulting in a promotion

  • The training and development opportunities are good and the Organisation supports study time


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • Make sure there is structure to your study leave and make sure you keep on top of your assignments by managing your time efficiently.
