  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a team leader managing performance, absence and engagement for a team of 15 customer service advisors working in emergency breakdown. I manage performance against KPIs and set business expectations through coaching and leadership management of all agents. Providing coaching to ensure high standards are maintained and scrutinised within the department

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned how to manage my time effectively and to self reflect through 360 feedback. I have learned how to build a high performing team through great leadership. By leading from the front and communicating clearly and consistently at all times. I have an open door policy always for my team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed some of the content. I felt it both relevant and insightful to the role I currently do. I found the training provider extremely poor. On my very limited sessions held with them. They offered no support and directed me to inline materials. I would not have had any additional benefits from them had I done the course with zero involvement from Remit.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very very poor. I felt my person was disinterested in my development and jargonised everything. Confusing me more every visit. Nothing was straightforward and I had to constantly go over and above in my own time to get myself over the line. Not an enjoyable experience at all. Remit were underwhelming.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I got the time I needed to get in order to achieve a pass. I was given support from my line manager and adjustments were made in order that I could complete my maths exam in person as over the computer was not considering my own limitations with suffering from a bad back. Where I was asked to lift my 19inch monitor off my desk and show the invigilator under my desk. Resulting in an injury and time off work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Absolutely none. Whatsoever. I changed development coach 4 months in and bothe development coaches had very different techniques and constantly contradicting each others methods. I wasn’t of any more of an advantage by having the training provider involved. I appreciate its self learning but saw no benefit of them being involved apart from send me material’s

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have put my things I have learned from my training. From managing self to building a high performance team. To organisational governance to hr policies and a good sound’s understanding of learning styles and coaching techniques that I put in to practice in my current role. Every day.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am a remote worker looking after remote customer service advisors but they do have an element of face to face interaction with me and their team mates. We meet one per month for one to ones as well as face to face team meetings. We do have a focus on engagement within the team and the department from team building worshops to team night outs

  • 9a. Would you recommend The AA to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The AA is a rewarding and fulfilling career where I feel valued. Respected and encouraged to be the best I can be. I am supported by my manager fully and always pushes me and inspires me to want and do better for myself as well as my team. I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The AA?
  • Be bold. Be you and prepare to be inspired. Give it your all and you will get all and more in return. It’s not easy. It can be tough but you will be given all the tools you will need to meet your full potential. It’s a business that doesn’t just listen but responds and works tirelessly to make where you work and what you do worthwhile
