  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a media relations executive, my role sits within the press office. My job involves monitoring media enquiries, tracking coverage, writing press releases, and social media copy.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have further developed my writing skills, as through approval and review by my colleagues, I have learned to pick up on my own grammar and punctuation errors, or notice how a sentence can be improved.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my role. From admin tasks which assist the wider team to taking on responsibility of writing copy which is attributed to the company. My team are very supportive and look to invite me to learn about various roles in the industry.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe my role is well structured in regards to the plans to have me sit underneath one aspect of corporate communications, and then switch half way through the year to learn another. My apprenticeship is 18 months, with assessment time planned near the end. This is structured well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive all the support I could need. My team is very supportive of my apprenticeship and allow me however much time I require to do my studies and look for opportunities to further my learning alongside study tasks. My employer has various support colleagues who I can confide in.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a coach all throughout my 18 months. This is something I never had when learning in university, as often I was left to handle tasks myself or reach out to a teacher who never knew who I was. My apprenticeship coach takes interest and cares.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification tells me about the why behind the job. I believe that often some jobs train their workers on a practical level, however this apprenticeship offers the knowledge behind it, as to fully acquire well-rounded skills relevant to my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My work has many employee networks which are great in regards to embracing diversity and inclusion, as to make all feel welcomed. My work additionally looks to make a connection between apprentices and graduates as many of them have moved away from home for the first time.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The culture at Nestlé I believe is one of a kind. I have never felt so welcomed and embraced. My team nurture my skills and always invite me to meetings or tasks as to improve my knowledge or introduce me to new experiences. My apprenticeship is recognised as vital.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestle?
  • Be your honest and true self in your interview. Everyone at Nestlé is very kind and want you to be comfortable, and so truly representing who you are will be key to settling in and building incredible relationships. Never be afraid to ask for help, as someone always will.
