  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship very much at the moment. Even though I have experience in this sector, I have always felt held back by not having my GCSEs, This course provides the learning for those alongside my team member apprenticeship which is the biggest reason I chose this course to begin with.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say very well structured and easy to understand. The modules are all organised by date so it is easy to complete one and just follow onto another. My learning skills coach is always on hand to help advise and offer assistance whenever I have needed it. I am definitely looking forward to completion.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received support every step the way. From my initial meeting, my mentor has supported me with everything from re-assuring me when I feel I have not done so well, to assisting me when a page is not working. She has been there for me from start to finish.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My mentor provides daily support, sometimes multiple times a day. She is very quick to offer congratulations when things have gone well. She also offers different perspectives and ways to look at things which have helped me achieve better marks when I have submitted my work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has helped me understand health and safety a lot more which has me keeping my eye on things regarding cleanliness. This, of course, is essential to a venue serving food and drink. It also helps me understand the stresses and problems of the team leaders and managers and what they have to deal with on a daily basis.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not at the moment. We are trying to set up a pool team and a darts team but not having much success. I enjoy pool, so would definitely join if we had a team.
