  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Auditing corporate listed and regulated clients. Working from home, office or client site. Interact with the engagement team performing work papers on different areas of the clients business. Apart from learning you study for exams with bpp. Employer will provide you with study leave to go college and learn the content with helpful tutors. All the learning material is provided.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed business level proficiency using office especially excel, learning different formulas to apply in day to day work. Massively improved business level communication e.g. speaking with clients ,sending emails and having teams catch-up calls. Whilst studying for professional qualifications you learn in-depth about accounting principles and theory which you can apply in real life work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my program as it allows me to obtain a professional qualification alongside valuable work experience, working with some of the biggest clients the big 4 have to offer. Its fast paced and you learn quite alot in a short space of time which allows you to build skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Its well organised the company has an internal early careers learning department that help facilitate the learning. Apprentices get set time given off to learn the content with the learning provider via in person or victual teaching. Also if you do fail an exam you are allowed to do a resit which is quite helpful.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots of support received. When you join you are paired up with a buddy system so you can get to know people who are doing the same program as you. Also are assigned to a Performance manager who had regular catch-ups with you and finally a peoples leader who you can speak to as well.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Training provider is effective in providing the qualifications. For more complex topics in person teaching occurs where the whole apprentice cohort will go college and thats nice as you are surrounded by people who are all apprentices. For simpler or smaller topics virtual teaching method is used where a tutor will teach the content live and explain in very easy steps.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • qualification is very valuable in my role as I am able to better understand accounting principles and apply them in day to day work. you obtain a variety of qualifications in different areas of accounting e.g. preparing financial statements and learning about tax all of which will be valuable as the apprenticeship progresses.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Loads of socials which makes KPMG stand out from other firms and they provide 6 days of volunteering which allows you to do projects you enjoy. When I joined all the new cohort went bowling which was really good. Lots of work networks to be a part of which makes working more nice.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend KPMG to a friend as it has a supportive work culture and very friendly seniors who are really helpful. The salary is great and you have a good overall holistic experience of projects, studying content and great social activities where you can network and meet new people.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • Tips I would advice would be to understand the recruitment process and what each stage assess. Learn a lot of situational judgement scenarios that you have been a part of and learn the core values of the firm and link them into your daily projects at sixth form. Communicate effectively and finally be confident.
