  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Developing my coaching skills through gaining new qualifications, experiences and insight, whilst delivering coaching in schools across wider Bristol. Compared to my last apprenticeship provider and those completed by my friends Coach Core is by far the best. The team are really passionate and lovely and they care. They put so much effort into our development and you don't feel like a number or a way to receive funding from the government. My mentor is fantastic also and he gives us all so much encouragement. I can't wait to start a level 3 with them!

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The biggest thing I have developed has been my confidence. I have realized that each coach brings something different and that is something to be embraced. I have also gained so many other skills through gaining insight from webinars, other apprentices, education days, courses such as Sure Breaking Limits and others on UK Coaching. All possible because of Coach Core.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It's been great and still is great. I look forward to starting a level 3 and looking back on the progress I have made when I complete my Level 2. I wish there was a course like this when I was younger as there are so many ways to learn. You have your coaching observations, your webinars, face to face education days, courses. It's great.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very, we have a document that has details of what to expect, over the next couple of months, for each week of education. Our employers have this information also so that everybody is on the same page and they are included with our development and have regular calls with our mentor. Apprentices' also have meetings with mentors, each month, to discuss homework, coaching and mentors ask how we are.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots, my mentor is only a WhatsApp message or a phone call away. He's really motivating and enthusiastic too, he has our best interest.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me to preform better within my role because I have so many opportunities to learn and to learn in different ways. This alone helps me with coaching as it creates awareness, we're not all the same and people benefit from different types of learning. The qualification has also given me so much insight from other coaches (through it's webinars and key speakers) and through coaching other apprentices from other organizations we are able to adopt, adapt and ignore (if we want) different methods and styles and reflect upon those decisions.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, we have development weeks (which include webinars and messages from key speakers), Uk coaching content is available to us, additional learning help and events such as the apprenticeship awards etc.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Coach Core Foundation to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's simply the best!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Coach Core Foundation?
  • Like my mentor said to me (I'm a mature student and was offered a 30k office job at the time of sign up) it's short term pain (low wage ect) for long term benefit and he's completely right. Try to think about / remember the bigger picture, this job is so rewarding and we have the opportunity to make such a positive impact on so many lives.
