  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in Financial transformation consultancy as a Graduate Analyst. I currently am in a Project Management Support role for a huge transformative project. This means I manage a budget tracker, independence and IPP responses, put together ppt packs for weekly check ins and act as an assistant to PMO manager.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt the importance of clear and structured communication. Sometimes I am prone to 'tying myself in knots' given my enthusiasm and want to help, and planning my thoughts/actions is something that has been key to this role. I have taken up many public speaking opportunities to help with this.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Very much so. The majority of the time I have a clear action plan of how to work through my textbook/my work for the day. I sometimes find tasks very tedious, although am gaining good perspective as I pass through the course. It helps me feel fulfilled for sure.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well. I enjoy the programme structure (e.g. the breaking down of content into chapters) and feel as though it allows me to apply my own learning styles whilst providing a great frame of reference. I personally prefer to self teach and the course book is an excellent tool for this.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Limited, although only by choice. There was one time I couldn't get into the portal and the early careers team were very helpful. Sometimes I am uncertain on who to contact at short notice, but I am getting better at this. Overall, I am not dissatisfied.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Loads! Their presence on email and the hub is fantastic. I feel as though I would be able to gain a good response if I were to reach out. The majority of my questions are answered proficiently on the chat function during tutor led sessions - all tutors have been fantastic this far.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My understanding as to why things are applied in the way they are has improved incredibly. I can give context to problems, understand better where I am heading, and also just have a much better perspective on the work I am involved in. It also helped with the theoretical understanding behind areas such as audit in which I am not involved in.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Netball club is great. I have attended a few professional networking events, including a fantastic one ran by BCASS at Marco Pierre White champagne room, where we heard from an array of very successful individuals. My team also have socials in Birmingham city centre, although these are not too frequent

  • 9a. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The culture is one I am very proud to be part of. I am beginning to see the world of opportunities and prospects that lies ahead of me. I really do feel like I am being moulded into a fantastic asset all whilst feeling fulfilled in a personal sense. I look forward to the future.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • Show your willingness to involve others/hear others point of view by directly calling them out in the group interviews. Show your want to take on responsibilities, and to have a 'first crack' a things rather than needing everything to be spelled out to you. That is greatly admired for sure.
