  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my role as a DT apprentice I will start my day going through emails and chats from the previous day that I might have missed or know I need to go through. I then check what meetings I have a prepare for those meetings. I will spend the rest of my hours doing work in my current placement and any other work that I may have e.g. steerco, apprentice work or helping other apprentices

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt many new skills and also developed existing skills. I have developed my technical skills with any new technologies that have been presented to me in my placements. My writing and listen skills have really developed over my time at E.ON as I use those skills everyday to do my job and improve on what I am doing.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the programme so far and excited to what is to come up. My daily work is fun and engaging and really enjoy the teams that I have been in. The more time I spend at E.ON the more responsibilities I get and feel more useful in placements which makes me feel like I am doing a good job.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organization of the programme is well thought out meaning that I am never confused about what I should be doing at any time in the year with placements or work. The structure of the programme is ok with 6 month placements in different areas but sometimes I feel I could benefit more from just staying longer. This is because it can sometimes take longer to adjust or with the work more time is wanted and my skills and knowledge could really benefit from staying longer.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive plenty of support from all colleges at E.ON. I don't often need support from the early careers team but I have catch-ups and always feel like I can ask help if I need it. The support that I get from my team is amazing and I can always ask for help with any of my work that I am doing. They understand that I am an apprentice and won't know everything that I need to know but are always happy to explain.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a fair amount of support from my training provider and feel like they provide the learning I need to continue my learning. Sometimes the teaching can be a lacking but all the information is there for me to learn what I need for the coursework. If I ever need anything I feel like I can ask and get the information needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like the qualification doesn't really match the work that I am doing in my role but the transferable skills that I learn through my qualification are very useful e.g. researching, learning, listen, reading etc. The projects that I work on are just not very similar to my learnings but I try to make my projects as close as possible to what I am doing.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • You can get involved in the networks which help provide value to all colleges who want to expand there knowledge or just want to help others in there area of expertise. As apprentices who go to university there are plenty of social groups to be apart of that you can join throughout the year.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • E.ON has really taken me in and expanded my skills and feel like this is the same for all apprentices. Everyone works really hard to make sure that we are making the most out of everything for us so that we can go on and move to the business with enough skills and knowledge.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • Don't be put off not having many current skills or knowledge about everything. Make sure that you show your potential because that is what they are looking for at E.ON, someone that can grow in the right environment and become there best self in and outside of the working environment.
