  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily role includes , drafting letters and emails to clients, Dealing with new enquiries and reviewing the information provided to make an initial assessment on if the case has enough prospects to win against the defendant. I complete work on different fee earners files and make calls to different external bodies.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes , i have learned how to draft emails and letters in an efficient and grammatically correct way. my communication skills have improved greatly and i am really confident in talking to different types of people that all hold different positions in the business. i am now completing work that i had been told about at the start of my apprenticeship, that i never thought i would ever be able to do.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme offered by Irwin mitchell and Damar open learning. I think the course is really interesting and lines up really well with the work I complete within my job role. when I learn something in my Damar open learning course I can apply it to my daily tasks.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is really organised and structured really well. when I learn something in my Damar open learning course I can apply it to my daily tasks. This makes understanding my jop role much easier as i understand why Im doing things in certain ways. it also helps me to apply my learning as it sticks in my head.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive lots of support from Irwin mitchell. we are given 1 day a week to do our studying and if we require any time to attend live workshops etc during the week then we can take that time whenever we need to. Our colleagues are also really supportive in giving us feedback on tasks and giving us learning opportunities.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive lots of support from Damar open learning . we are given 1 day a week to do our studying and if we need any help either on that day or any other time during the week then we can just email or coach and they normally get back to us really quickly

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I enjoy the programme offered by Irwin mitchell and Damar open learning. I think the course is really interesting and lines up really well with the work I complete within my job role. when I learn something in my Damar open learning course I can apply it to my daily tasks.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We get the opportunity to do different volunteering events, Irwin mitchell also offer to support the sporting teams you play in by offering a sponsorship you can apply for. We are also offered different courses to take part in both externally and internally that really broadens our social networking platform.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • i would recommend irwin mitchell because they are really good at sticking to their promises , for example all of the opportunities we were told we would be offered when we joined , so far we have been offered these. they are really supportive and the management genuinely care about their staff.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Irwin Mitchell?
  • Make sure to be yourself, we are all one big team so your personality is what they want to see the most. Be prepared and willing to put yourself forward for different things like podcasts etc that may take you out of your comfort zone but will overall be really beneficial.
