  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The role is a general customer facing position. There are constantly customers coming to the trade counter and also phoning up to check on prices, stock availability, product information. Therefore you need to be able to meet the demands of the customer, whatever this may be. Within this role, you are often faced with responsibilities which may be external or internally based, this can vary from ensuring tasks are done for your line manager or organising deliveries for customers to ensure they have the materials on their site hassle free.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the apprenticeship programme to some extent, however I had found parts of it fairly straightforward. However, I found aspects of the apprenticeship extremely useful, especially when it directly linked to aid the general development like product knowledge. On the whole, I enjoyed the process of the apprenticeship programme

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The content structure of the programme was adequate and I felt that I had an appropriate amount of time for the content that was expected. However the apprenticeship had lasted around 15-16 months. This was longer than expected, and Iit could possibly have been scheduled a little better on that front.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received help whenever I needed throughout the apprenticeship. This was ideal because if I needed to spend an afternoon in a private office to ensure that my work was complete, the branch would accommodate to aid me in completing the necessary tasks. Therefore, on the whole Travis Perkins accommodated my needs very well.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • On the whole there is not many negative aspects of the job if you are surrounded by the right people. However, this is my opinion based on my experience in a fairly quick moving branch with a good team around me. If this were not the case, I may have a different view.
