  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Since starting at the NHS, I have learned new skills and been given more duties to be getting on with. I help with incoming emails and any deliveries that arrive. I do administration tasks that help the team and ease workload among the department. I feel useful and part of the team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I've learned how to prioritise workload and get the most done I can in a day. I work more efficiently now than when I started and feel more confident in the work I do. I am learning a new system and hope to have this skill perfected soon.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme is a lot of fun and I feel there are many positive aspects of working here. We are taking part in many Christmas activities and this is great for team and morale building. I'd highly recommend working in the Payroll department as everyone is friendly and down to Earth.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is organised so far and Damar are very thorough in getting things sorted. I appreciate their help and determination in getting my apprenticeship started. I look forward to continuing the programme and learning more to help me in my career. I envision staying with the NHS long term.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is extremely supportive. There are wellness walks, emails to support people who are struggling with the cost of living and activities that can advise on this. The NHS and WWL really do a lot to support their staff and it's clear that they care. I love it here.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I haven't had much to do with Damar as of yet as I am still onboarding, but so far they have been very supportive and helpful. It's clear that they want to do their jobs properly and want to provide a high quality experience for both the employer and employee.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think a Business Admin qualification is a great idea as it strengthens many skills and it's unlikely most people would have prior business admin experience before an apprenticeship. Giving students this support is extremely valuable and will help to get on board with office duties and day to day life.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are a lot of Christmas activities, as mentioned, and other activities throughout the year. A Remembrance Day service was held in the chapel nearby and all colleagues were welcome. Activities and events are often advertised and, again, all colleagues are welcome. I have already had extra-curricular activities, such as our team day away.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The NHS is a very rewarding place to work for with dedicated staff and a great work morale amongst staff. It helps that it's a cause for good and does some great work for the community and staff. I feel valued and that I have purpose each day I go to work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • I would advise others to be themselves and be willing to do your best. That's all that will be expected and people love honest and genuine employees. Working hard is great as you feel useful and a helpful part of the team. Be ready to ask questions and learn.
