  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I read and organise incoming emails and mail and process this to the correct person to handle. I take calls and assist people with any payroll queries or concerns they may have. I take part in meetings to ensure good teamwork and organise spreadsheets to help with day to day tasks

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I've brushed up my English and maths skills. As well as this, I've familiarised myself with different IT programs and gained confidence in this. I feel more confident preparing a spreadsheet and see how this will be useful in my role. I've learned how to interact with others too.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Every day is different and there's always something to learn. Team members are very friendly and inclusive. I feel at home already and see myself having a long career with the NHS. My job has value and this means I have a reason to go into work in the morning.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • No structure is perfect but so far I'm happy in my role and I have plenty to do. I can ask for help if needed and see progression. If I'm struggling I know who to ask and how to overcome any situation that's new as I can ask others

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from the NHS and my department. There are lots of avenues for help, guidance and friendliness. I feel like a part of something really important. Going to work is a pleasure as I have great interactions and feel value in my day to day job

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] have been very supportive. I've had issues with funding as I had an apprenticeship before that didn't work out, but [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] have been proactive and patient in helping get to a solution. I'm lucky to have such a helpful training provider and look forward to starting my course.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think training for a role is very logical as it means you're comfortable doing the work needed and don't make as many mistakes. I think it's very easy to do as its always been done, but thinking forward is necessary in our ever changing modern world.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, I am blown away by all of the communities available to join in the NHS. I can connect with people nationwide who have disabilities like me or mental health issues or part of the LGBT community. I am an ally to both the LGBT community and FAME (for all minority ethnics).

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a rewarding, nourishing company to work for and any problems can be resolved. In other places I've worked, I've felt nervous about speaking up about worries or issues, but WWL encourage this. They want their staff to be happy and therefore working well, which leads to a comfortable atmosphere.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • Be willing to work hard but don't put too much pressure on yourself. No one expects the world from you, especially not when you're new, but putting in effort to help the team is greatly appreciated. You will feel more enriched if you can work hard and contribute.
