Deputy Programme Manager Review

Managing a clinical service for the NHS. Budget responsibility, recruitment, capacity planning, estates and facilities management, investigating complaints and incidents, service improvement, project management, change management.

I am at the start of the apprenticeship, but have already learnt several new theoretical models and theories. I have also started to learn practical skills.

I am enjoying the study, learning new skills and developing in a way I do not usually have the opportunity to within my usual role. It can be difficult to balance the requirements of the programme with the day to day demands of a busy role.

Now that we are up and running I feel that I am in the swing of it, and understand the structure. It feels more organised now I know what the expectations and structure are.

My employer has been supportive, and have organised 'wrap around' support for those of us on the course.

My tutor has been easy to get hold of when I need her, and has taken the time to answer queries and understand my personal circumstances. The welcome and induction process was smooth.

The role will equip me with skill to be a better leader and manager.
