I am a nursing auxiliary in an emergency Department at great Western hospital. My main responsibilities are patient care, I also have some clinical training such as ecg's, venepuncture, observations, back slab plastering and wound care.
Yes, I have worked along side nurses and doctors to perfect my skills.
I enjoy the assignments and the extra learning even though it has proved difficult at times.
Until about 5 months ago it was awful, I had 2 assessors who did not help me at all and i fell so far behind on all of my assignments, but my latest assessor is amazing and I have caught up a lot and nearly completed my level 3.
To be honest next to no support at all. My assessor has had to demand I have my off the job hours as for over 12 months I had nothing.
As I have mentioned my latest assessor has been amazing and helped me so much.
A lot better, I feel a lot more confident
No nothing
Yes
I love my work and my job, sometimes you just shout a bit louder to get help.
Be confident and be willing to learn loads!
