  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • the work can be complex and challenging. the team i share an office with are amazing, they all have varied amounts of knowledge covering the entire site. i never had any expectations going into the apprenticeship, so i am very pleased with the way it turned out. the apprenticeship was enjoyable and educational

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • work always gave us the support we needed, whether it was days off work to attend college or time in work to complete assignments. management were very supportive as they wanted us to succeed. they were they to help with any issues with college or work as they had been there and seen it all before.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • college support was impeccable. our course was provided by gower college swansea, the lecturers there were amazing and catered the course for all levels of learning. they were available outside of "school" times to assist with any issues we faced. nothing was too much trouble for them. recommend that college course

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the btec course was a taster ready for the hnc. could probably of skipped it. the hnc was very good for our job role. the nvq's are pointless and a waste of time. MeTALs courses were the best education for our job role as they were specifically aimed at the steel industry

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are plenty extra-curricular activities to get involved in at port talbot. not so much here at newport as all tatas funding has gone into port talbot. outside of work based activities, we got a good group in the office and try to go out and do something when we are off work together

  • 9a. Would you recommend Tata Steel to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • they employed me, good training, gave me a good salary, good pension, job security (pending your own [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] ups) if you get on a shift with a good crew, you can have the social side of working too. every day poses different issues on site, so you are always pushing yourself into different problems and ways to solve them

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tata Steel?
  • application was simple, all online. interviews are alright, just something you have to do to get the job. be prepared, dont go in with no knowledge. do some research on what the job is and what the company does. depending on the job role and your experience, have a presentation ready as certain roles require one (wont need 1 for an apprenticeship)
