  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves helping to oversee the overall management of the business including opening, closing and the overall day to day running of the business. I also cash up and help handle stocks. Another job role is working in the kitchen as a chef and helping with orders and deliveries.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned to better and more efficiently manage my team, another thing I have learned which I didn’t think I would is how to act more professionally in a corporate environment rather than just the more relaxed atmosphere at work. I have also learnt more about greene kings handbook and their visions and ideas.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the programme and Victoria is a massive help towards this, she helps keep me focused and on track. The only thing I don’t enjoy is trying to find time to complete the work as we are still working full time hours alongside this course. Overall it’s good.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think from my point of view it is very well organised as I always know the dates of what is coming up next and what work is required of me for my next one on ones or group sessions. The only thing I get confused with is the multiple sites used.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received a lot of support from my tutor, if that’s the same thing, who is helping me through this course at every step, She ensures all my work is up to scratch and never left me feeling confused about why we are doing certain work or what the next step is.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the qualification does help me better in my role as it is helping me expand on my knowledge I already possessed but it is also helping me understand new ways on how to manage and to take other aspects of people’s lives and learning styles into account.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Their are people at work in outside sports teams and other activities, however there’s not much available for anything else. In regards to professional networking these events tend to be reserved for the GM and are only attended by other staff when the general manager can!to attend for whatever reason.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Greene king tend to try to look after their employees and the benefits available are quiet good. The main reason I’d recommend is personally our team are very close and get on very well together. Because if this I have made friends for life and this also includes regulars.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • My main advice would be that it is a harder job than you think and sometimes it can be stressful and very hard work. However you will get out of it what you put in. There is always room for progression and lots of training opportunities. Also make the effort to socialise with your staff.
