  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since working at Rolls Royce in the manufacturing background, I have learnt a wider knowledge and understanding of engineering and manufacturing. I've learnt how to use specialist tools and equipment, torque settings and machinery such as lathes, pillar drills and band saws. Overall I've gained many skills in manufacturing and engineering which I did not have prior.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy learning on the job and especially the college course. Although the college work may be tough it is still enjoyable and rewarding, and I have learnt a lot since starting at Rolls Royce. The course is very hands on which I feel is the best way to learn.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The college course is very well structured and well balanced, allowing for sufficient time to complete all necessary coursework. However, at work you may be pulled onto the assembly line to cover absence/holiday when you should be free to continue learning a new package / skill. The overall structure at work is average.

  • My tutors at my training provider offer me great support whilst working towards my qualifications. • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the engineering qualification is beneficial in gaining an understanding of manufacturing and a basic understanding of engineering. This can be applied to work situations and skills/knowledge. However, i feel that some aspects of the course are irrelevant for my job role as certain machinery.equiptment is not used withing my role even though I've learnt it at college.
