  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On the day to day basis, we do different tasks involving different activities, this can include many different things such as looking at different electrical tasks or going out and looking at different electrical appliances. This can change everyday depending on the demand of the user and what they are wanting to be done.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • When first starting the apprenticeship, i didn't really know what to expect and i didn't have any known skills from the past, so i came in completely blind, and not knowing what to expect, but since i have learned a lot of new skills and developed a good understanding of the electrical side of things

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • When i first started, i was a bit scared of what to expect, but as the days went on the programme got a lot better and became a whole lot more interesting. This is due to having something different to do everyday and get a good understanding of what is going on. its never the same and was always enjoyable to see what new tasks could be undertaken.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • When i first started. the program seemed very structured and very organised from day 1, every day since then it always has been structured and get a good understanding about what is going to happen. There is weekly meetings discussing what the plans for the week are going to be and a chance to discuss what was going on the week before as well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • From the employer there is always the amount of support needed, and when the support is needed they are always willing to help and give a good example of what to do when stuck or how to improve on the problem that is at hand. this can help as it gives a better understanding for the future and when you need assistance it is always there.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When at college once a week, there is always a lot of support from the training provider, they are able to help along the way and make sure that you are always achieving the best grade possible and making sure that all the targets that have been set are getting hit.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • When doing the qualification, it goes along side the apprenticeship, this helps perform in the workplace as well, this includes doing analytical methods, this helps perform in the work place and get a good understanding about what is going on and then this can be used later on to be used in real world practise.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • When outside of work, there is a lot of out of work activities, these can including sailing, go karting, abseiling, rock climbing, and loads more. There is also special events that take place every so often. These are for ice breaking tasks to get you to meet a lot of new people and know who may be in the apprenticeship and be able to make new friends. This is a really good task that they run as its always good fun to do and you are always meeting a lot of new people and making a load of new friends that alos share the same hobbies.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I highly highly recommend this to a friend as its such a great opportunity to be in there is loads to be in as well, there is never a day where the day is the same. It always changes depending on the user and if you don't like what is going on there is always other opportunities to be in that you may also like.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • When applying its great to just be your self and just stay positive, as this will always help when getting into a businesses like this. its such a great opportunity and there is many different ways you can grow in the company and lean a wide range of different skills.
