  • rotating around the shop floor area, to gain understanding of the product range, and the assembly/disassembly, test and fault find of the product. this is done by spending time with trained and experienced colleagues, overshadowing you.

  • during my time at knorr bremse i have learnt and developed may skills during my time, both as a fitter, and interpersonal skill. however I do feel that the development at knorr bremse is subpar, and that the full potential has not be utilized correctly

  • i have somewhat enjoyed my time at knorr bremse, as an apprentcie your development comes second, due to the lack of appreciation and understanding of the apprentcieship program, this means your development can be hindered as the sale are more important that you learn new skills

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship program is a shambles, 0 communication between management means you can be unaccounted for as an apprentice, the college structure is predetermined, so run smoothly, however when at the factory its like a bunch of headless chicken. expect all your placements to be last minute

  • the support offered at knorr bremse can be useful at time, providing you get along with management. Most people at knorr bremse are willing, and have the knowledge to help you with an questions you may have, and will give you the time and energy you require to move forwards

  • when working towards your qualifications, your training provider will keep you updated with changes or upcoming commitments, they usually posses the understanding and knowledge to support you, and are always on hand to answer any queries

  • the qualifications have been very beneficial to my role

  • 9b. Why?
  • at Knorr Bremse there are some major pitfalls on their behalf, such as poor management, many unskilled workers, and a shop floor area not fit for purpose. the management style is very fascist, old fashion and bizarre, which does not make a good environment for development, let alone an apprentice
