  • I have orientations across the cement plant, learning about the process engineering of cement manufacturing and maintenance procedures.

  • I have developed my communication, management and engineering skills.

  • I enjoy coming to work every morning as I get to experience something new and learn different things everyday.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very structured as I have regular meetings with my university professors and my line managers to discuss my progress at university and at work. I also have set learning targets that I need to achieve every month.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support as I receive a lot of trainings and company benefits from my employer. I have a lot of people with whom I can speak to if I am struggling at work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My university professors do their best to ensure that I am fully supported with all the education materials and they are always happy to answer any questions that I have about certain work-related topics.

  • Everything that I have and will learn is closely related to what I am exposed to on a daily basis. I always refer to my university notes when I am struggling to understand certain processes at work.

  • I am involved in a Core Skills Development Programme where I get to meet different people from different parts of the business to build my network and also learn from others' experiences while having the chance to visit other sites around the UK.

  • Yes

  • Tarmac provides all apprentices and trainees with the opportunity to grow as a person as well as learning the skills required to perform in this heavy industry.

  • Ensure that you have researched the company well before you apply and don't be nervous.
