  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The 360 apprenticeship at KPMG involves real work at the firms London office at canary wharf (in my location) and working at client sites, also with the unique oppportunity to move around the business and experience other work, while studying for a professional qualification and undertaking some lengthy and hard exams!

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • YES - The main skills I learnt including problem solving, communication, time keeping, team work and also presentation skills. It was great working with new people both in the firm and also getting to know some of my other 360 starters. We all learnt so much from Day one in the firm

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have absolutely enjoyed my 360 programme. I have given lots of help and support and the people were really nice. I have enjoyed rotating in different business areas and this is a unique selling point and has helped identify where I want to proceed my career in the long term

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It's a really well structured programme and I have been given the chance to see and do a great amount of work. I have met lots of clients and was given very early responsibility, which I wasnt expecting and I had to step up quickly to perform my work successfully

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I had great support from the form in the early days before the programme which was important, being young and not experienced at all in this line of work. The comms given by the team were really helpful and gave me confidence to do my job when I did start

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get good support although I find the study harder than I expected, and the exams are more intense than I had thought possible! I am working hard to gain my qualification and this takes longer than graduate starters but this is perhaps good in allowing me time to pass

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I dont know anything about the main work areas before I started and the exams help build technical knowledge, and you work through lots of numerical tasks too so it is important to pay attention as you need good maths skills too in order to pass - it is not simply theory

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are clubs but i have not yet been involved in any of these as I have been busy working and maintaining friends with the group I started with, but yes I think there are clubs and networks I can join and think I might do this when time allows

  • 9a. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The 360 programme is unique as far as I am aware, I did not know which work area interested me the most but now I am more clear which area interests me the most. I would not have known this without the 360 experience and learning whilst I was studying

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • I would say go for it and to look early as places seem to fill quickly and lots of people knew about kpmg and this 360 programme well ahead of applying. so it is popular. but yes do apply and give it your best shot as it is worth it
