Supervising the front of house team, serving customers at the bar, serving customers on the floor, delegating tasks, performing financial tasks such as declaring the tills and counting the safe, opening the pub, closing the pub, doing food and beer orders for Delivery, training new members of front of house team
Yes, I already had existing skills before I started my apprenticeship, but through the apprenticeship course I feel I gained more confidence in my day to day role such as dealing with customer complaints efficiently, and becoming more thorough with financial tasks. Also learning new supervising skills which I didn’t have before my apprenticeship
I enjoyed the apprenticeship programme as it gave my role more of a purpose because I was working towards something. I was also allowed to continue my learning during covid with online training sessions and classrooms and having a tutor to communicate with which allowed me to progress my career faster
The programme is quite organised, for example when having one meeting I knew when the next meeting was a month in advance so I had time to prepare my work and for my learning hours around my work rotas schedule. I also had a tutor to contact if I was unsure of anything
My employer wasn’t really involved in my programme, however my manager allowed me to book off mornings for example for my lessons to take place and allowed me to use up my holiday for things like exams etc. most of the support came from the tutors and examiners, however my employer was still supportive
The support from the training provider was amazing and I always had somebody to contact in situations when my tutor wasn’t available such as the training provider directly. She would answer emails between sessions and helped with stuff off the curriculum such as cvs and training related to the job
Yes, it makes me feel more confident in my role knowing I am qualified and have experience. It also Makes me feel more confident when applying for other jobs in the industry as it gives me an advantage compared to others with more traditional qualifications such as normal degrees etc
Yes, there are social activities given by the training provider such as extra courses to be taken alongside the course you are already partaking in, such as online classrooms to help on subjects you need extra help in, newsletters to read on subjects of interest such as industry trends and diversity
Yes
Greene king has many benefits like staff discounts 33% off food and drink and sometimes 50% off for a month, 50% off hotels, career progression with apprenticeship courses and an internal job search, organised with shifts with their kingdom / fourth app with the opportunity to network with others in the company
I would encourage them to apply because of all the benefits I listed above such as 33% discounts, hotel discounts, career progression. My advice would be to take all of The opportunities presented to you and to Get involved with sharing ideas as much as possible because it is worthwhile
