  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work front of house. Before opening I help make sure the bar is stocked up, tables are clean & menus are on them. I make sure our customers are happy & enjoying their visit with us. I pour drinks, make teas & coffees, deliver food orders & clear tables once finished. We also make sure that our four legged friends are happy too with treats & water bowls for them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Being new to hospitality, having worked mainly in customer services in an office, I have learnt how to pour pints & not end up with a glass of foam. I’ve learnt how to open & close the pub on our computer systems & how to use the tills to order food & drinks.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying my course. Having been out of education for a very long time, I find some things a bit challenging. My coach/trainer is super helpful & extremely understanding, which makes this even more enjoyable. As my daughter is also doing the same training as me it helps to get her assistance when I think I’m doing something wrong.

  • My employer is very supportive.

  • My training provider is excellent. I can contact him with any query regarding the apprenticeship at anytime & he will help me.

  • I feel it will give me a better understanding of my role within the company & help me work more productively.

  • I am quite busy out of work & haven’t explored any of these options.
