  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work front of house and work as a waitress and bartender. My daily duties include pouring drinks for customers, delivering meals to customers, making sure the pub stays clean and safe. Am currently training as a team leader and am doing my level 3 hospitaly supervisor course which i enjoy

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to do a start of day open which includes opening tills, counting the safe, reloading the fruit gamblers, checking the kitchen check books, doing a guest walk around which includes tidying up the pub and looking for any hazards. I also set up the bar by cutting fruit for the drinks, putting beer mats out and lots more

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy learning new things and like the fact i can do it online but also experience online classes which i can access at any time this makes learning alot easier. I enjoy working towards a qualification in hospitality and getting more confident in what i already know at the pub

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I can speak to my trainers if i am stuck on what to do either in person or by phone. Its clear what is expected from me each week and what tasks i have to complete. There is lots of ways to recors what i learn on my life which helps my work stay organised

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive alot of support from my employer they are always there to help me if i am stuck on a task and to reassure me that my work is up to standard. They are also good at showing me what other resources are available to help with my training

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There is lots of support available from my trainer they show me thoroughly what is expected from me and what tasks i need to complete. They are also good at reassuring me i am doing the right thing whilst working towards my apprenticeship, etc writing out the activities online correctly.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Im learning alot more through doing my training and im understanding the reasons as to why things are done the way they are which makes my practical learning alot better. Im also learning how to do tasks that team leaders would do which helps me get towards where i want to be

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my work there is activities such as a darts team and a pool team which i could get involved with if i wanted to. There are team meetings which involve all the staff having discussions and talking about our worries and hopes which gets us all socially interactive

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would reccomend greene king as they go the extra mile to make sure your working at your full potential. There is lots of opportunities for more learning and to progress such as our online TAP training, apprenticeships and our kingdom app which allows us to see and compare what goes on in other greene king pubs


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Applying for greene king gives you a good chance to go further in your career, as there is so many courses available and i would suggest for anyone that joins greene king to take every opportunity that is given to them, eg apprenticeships back or front of house, and to make the most of the online courses that can be completed on TAP
