Opening and closing kitchen, all daily food prep . Making sure fridge and freezer temps are done twice daily, cooking food to order when cheques come through. Daily cleaning and general tidying of kitchen. Emptying bins at the end of shift. Cleaning and putting plates, cutlery and utensils away. Cleaning griddle at end of shift
I've had to learn everything from scratch going into this kitchen environment as everyone works in a different way but I think I've managed to adapt my previous skills like time management to this kitchen environment. I've learnt how to proritse things a little differently as well.
I enjoy the fact that I can learn as I work and also there is always someone to help if I get a little stuck on anything or need advice with a topic I don't always quite understand. I will also come out with a qualification that is recognised.
My programme is very well organised and the structure is perfect for me. I have on my action plan the tasks I need to do and when they need to be completed for which helps me a great deal with my time management I can also proritse what needs to be done first as its in a list of what needs to be done
My employer supports me 100% in this and so does my kitchen manager. They are both always there if I need to ask questions or are unsure about anything. My supervisor is showing me all aspects of the job including ordering and stock counts as these will be part of my job as well.
My training provider is always on hand 24/7. If for some reason I cannot contact anyone when I need help wether it be out of hours of there office hours of a weekend there is always online support where I can chat about my problem or look at troubles shooting my questions
My qualification that I'm working towards through my provider helps me perform better in my role as I will be shown and learnt all aspects of the role that I undertake at the moment, it may even help me move up through the roles to eventually get to kitchen manager
We don't really have extra curricular activities at work but we all help each other out with events at work, whether it's a buffet where kitchen and bar work together or a special.offer on where it includes food and drink we do have a work chat where we can all bounce around ideas and see how we can market these events.
Yes

If you take a job that starts at the bottom ie front of house team member or back of house team member you don't always have to stay in that position you can always request to.put on a training scheme and they also have there own in-house training online.
