I am be responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members on a daily basis. As a team leader, I am the contact point for all team members on shift, so my communication skills are a must. I am also, able to act proactively to ensure smooth team operations during shift and at the end of the night.
Since working for greeneking I have learnt a lot of new skills including communication, delegating, people management, problem solving, maturity, patience, time management, listening, respect and more. These are all skills I have to put into my everyday life and work. Some of this skills I already had but have improved on during this time.
I am really enjoying my programme as my trainer makes me feel as comfortable as possible to the point I’m not scared to ask her any question if I’m unsure. The actual work itself doesn’t seem to difficult at the moment and I’m actually enjoying learning new things!
I feel like I know exactly where I’m up to and how long I have to complete my tasks before our next visit. Everything is in little sections for every subject and every visit that needs to be complete and if I’m struggling I can text / email / phone my trainer to help me.
At the moment I don’t get much help from my employer as we have just lost our general manager so our assistant manager is covering and has a lot to do she doesn’t really know what I’m doing or where I’m up to but hopefully our new manager will be more invested in my work.
My training provider is fantastic! We don’t just talk about work and my qualifications I feel I can literally talk to her about anything that is going on in or out of work. She makes me feel comfortable to ask anything I don’t know or I’m unsure of!
Everything I am learning or learnt through my qualification I can apply to in everyday life including work. It also help me have a better understanding or why things are run the way they are or why people are or act the way they do. It also helps me understand myself and my role better.
Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of extra-curricular activities for us to do. We try our hardest to put things on like bottomless brunches, quiz nights, competitions and breakfast with Santa / Easter bunny, these are just a few things we have had or are having on in the next few months.
Yes
I would recommend Greene king to a friend because I have never met more nicer people in my life. Whether that be members of staff I work with, staff in other pubs, training providers who do apprenticeships, area managers and more! The benefits to working at Greene king like staff discount and friends and family discount are also a win.
My only advice is if something is promised to you by the company always chase it up! Everyone is lovely and helpful that any issues you have get resolved. So always talk to someone. And make friends. They will be your friends for the rest of your life and they are the best people!
