  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a team leader I am sometimes in charge of setting up the pub for a days service, this involves bringing the tills down from the office, turning on machines we need for the day, checking the business booking system and emails and ensure there is enough stock available for the day a head.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication skills a lot and really improved my knowledge on legislation involved around the pub industry, I also feel my knowledge on the financial side of the business has improved but still needs some work. I have also developed my skills in organising the team and preparing them for a shift.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really did not enjoy my programme at all as I felt the training providers and end point assessor were unprofessional and did not listen to me when I was trying to explain any issues to them and seemed to just brush them off or not be willing to do anything to improve the situation.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The online side of the programme was really well structured and easy to follow, everything was there for me to use and could be accessed any time of day, as for the practical side of the programme we're meeting were required there didn't seem to be any organisation or structure at all.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a lot of support from my employer which was nice to see give that the pub wasn't actually open due to covid, but the still did check up on my programme progress and how I was coping with the fundamentals of the programme plus they also did a lot to help with the issues I was having with the training providers.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I did receive some support but due to my tutor changing a total of three times due the course of my programme, some were amazing and would ensure I got weekly check in on my progression and ask if I needed any support, where other would not contact and prove difficult to get a hold of if there was any reason to get in touch

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like because it gave me a better understanding of the hospitality industry and an understanding on why certain procedure are done in a certain way it helped me have a better work ethic towards my role and helped give me a passion for the job I was doing.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are as I work for a Greene King, the company is in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support so that allows use to have a bit more involvement in charity events/ social money rising activities. We also have a pub football team, darts team and pool team to which I am involved with two of the three teams.

  • Yes

  • Greene King put their employees first and always ensure we get as much support as they can possible give you, they provide a family like atmosphere which help welcome member to the team and encourages growth as a team and as an individual, they also provide great training programmes and opportunities.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Working in hospitality is not just about wiping tables and serving food at Greene King you as an employee are seen as part of a family and your career is important to them. Teamwork plays a massive apart across all of the Greens King brands and is evident wherever you go.
