  • I am a fibre jointer for Openreach building the new fibre network. My day-to-day activities include building, installing and organising fibre nodes. Splicing fibres together inside nodes following job packs. Spanning cables overhead on poles or installing cables underground through ducts. Reporting faults within the network and following the correct procedures for getting these issues resolved and this includes - blocked ducts, dilapidated underground boxes, faults with poles or faults with fibres within the network.

  • I have really enjoyed my completing apprenticeship with Openreach and feel like I have gained a lot from it. When I started with this company they provided me with 9 weeks of basic training before going out buddying in the field and this was great as I feel like they gave me enough time to take in they education and learn new skills. Now that I have nearly finished my apprenticeship with Openreach they have already provided me with further training course.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend working for Openreach to anyone as I feel they are a good company to work for. I receive a good salary and great training that I have benefited from. I have had the ability to gain further skills and education during my time here. I also really enjoy my job role and have had a great time so far.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • The best advice I would give is if you are new to the communications industry then do a bit of research about Openreach and what they do. Being able to talk about this within the interview will show you are keen to lean and you have came to the interview prepared. I would also do some research about the questions they might ask so you have enough time to think about the right answer to give.
