  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Apprentice HGV driver, learning about loading lorries. Learning how to drive a HGV safely and efficiently. Learning how to perform safety checks on the HGV to make sure it is safe to drive. Working towards passing my theory and practical tests.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Have learnt a lot about drivers hours and driving regulations. Have gained a level 2 in Maths. Working towards my level 2 in English. Also working towards passing my theory and practical tests.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am thourghly enjoying it and am so glad I took the plunge and applied for the apprenticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It has been a challenging time with the pandemic but the programme has been well run and everything that can be done to make it as smooth as possible has been done to keep us on track.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am fully supported by my employer and feel that no matter what happens they will be fully behind me and help me to pass this apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • It has been a tough year and hasn't been the easiest times but I feel that throughout this apprenticeship the training providers have been fairly good.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Everything I have done so far has helped me and has refreshed my memory on things I have done in the past and also given me insight into things I didn't know. All this will help me further down my career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am only really interested in gaining my apprenticeship and do not worry about extra curricular activities.

  • Yes

  • It is a very friendly and exciting company to work for. They value their employees and will do everything they can do to help you on your chosen career path.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • Just go for it. You have nothing to lose by trying. Also never give up. If you don't succeed first time learn from the experience and try again. Always be positive.
