  • Some skills I have developed since starting my role at Tarmac include my communication skills and public speaking skills. • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe my programme was very well organised, especially regarding the core skills development programme. A lot of thought is put into the order of each session to help develop skills which are extremely useful and help make the next session easier. All of this helps towards the end goal of a final presentation.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am receive a lot of support from my employer. The day I started at Tarmac, I was given a mentor who has been my go to person whenever I have needed help and has helped develop me into the person I am now. As well as this, the core skills development programme allows you to network and meet new friends who can also support you through your journey.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider. • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has a lot of aspects which are slightly different to my current due to a lot of it being based on building sites where as in my current role we mainly carry out resurfacing works on roads. However, there are still a lot of modules which are related to my work and help me massively in gaining an understanding of tasks. University can also help with simple things such as meeting deadlines, presentation skills and research skills.
