  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as an engineering apprentice in my second year of work (first year on site) involves following/ shadowing an engineer in order to gain knowledge from them. The engineers give you tasks to complete and give you assistance where it is needed. They provide you with enough knowledge and guidance to complete jobs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills. I have learnt these skills from attending college once a week and also from being on the Britvic site in Beckton 4 days a week. I have learnt many skills, such as Programmable Logic Controllers, Pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electronics and how to read diagrams and drawings

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme to a very large extent. It is such a great experience and I am living the cliche of learning something new every day. Before I joined this programme I knew that I would enjoy it because I enjoy both physical work and mental work. And Britvic is the perfect place for me as it combines both of those things.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship programme at britvic is and has been extremely organised and well structured. They have a set plan for each year I am on the apprenticeship programme and provide assistance wherever necessary. Since I have been on site in my second year I have been given a plan in order for me to learn and progress.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer wherever and whenever I need the support. They support me with both my college work and my engineering work. For example, if I require extra time away from the production line then they will provide me with some time to complete college work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider when I am working towards my qualifications. Particularly with the NVQ aspect of my qualification. I am given 4 hours per week at work to complete job write ups which provide evidence for the NVQ. The training provider will help with the layout of my write ups.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Personally, I feel that the qualification given by my training provider helps me perform better in my job as it helps me in the journey of learning certain aspects of my job role. These aspects include the following: Programming (Programmable logic controllers), pneumatic and hydraulic systems training, electrical work and

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a sports and social group at britvic which you pay £2 in a month to be a part of and they will hold special event and activity days which are usually social activities such as going to horse racing, sports teams such as playing football and going out for days to play golf etc.

  • I would recommend britvic to a friend because it is a great place to work and they treat everyone with respect and integrity, no matter what your job role or job title consists of. You are always treated with respect and fairness. They will give you assistance wherever needed. I really enjoy working at britvic


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Britvic?
  • If I was to give advice or tips to someone who was to be applying for Britvic the first thing I would suggest is that you are always polite and friendly whenever you speak to anyone at britvic. This is because everyone who is associated with britvic will always greet you with a smile on their face.
