My main role as an audit apprentice is to assist the engagement team by completing tasks. This mainly includes working on testing and completing the relevant work papers to do this. I have also worked on emailing clients to ask for supporting evidence/ additional comments to implement into work papers.
I have learnt many key skills required in this line of business. In particular i would say i have definitely developed my communication, organisation and team working skills. By being put on an audit engagement from the very beginning i have developed strong working relationships and have become much proficient in business skills.
I definitely enjoy this programme- this apprenticeship has been great as i have experienced working in a professional role as well as studying towards my accounting exams. The opportunity to develop skills is great and other colleagues/ team members are very helpful and welcoming. Overall, it has been a great experience so far!
This audit apprenticeship programme is very well structured i would say, as time is set aside to complete professional study away from work giving us all good time to prepare. Working professionally has also been structured great as we were all put on engagements from the very beginning since starting!
I would say i receive a good amount of support from my employer. Since starting we have been allocated various members of staff to reach out for support. We mainly have our Performance Managers and Leaders to help assist with any general queries/ questions and have tracked our progress through various periods of the year.
BPP has been really supportive when it comes to professional qualifications. Before lessons we receive notes, questions banks and access to numerous exam questions. The online hub is great for tracking progress as well as practicing questions before an exam. Overall, BPP has provided much support in regards to professional qualifications.
BPP has been great overall. We regularly have catch up calls with a BPP coach where we discuss progress, next steps, exam feedback and new goals to set. This is great opportunity to reflect on your skills as well as looking into specific areas of improvement and any further actions to take.
There are many social events that take place regularly throughout the year. When first starting this role, i had the opportunity to meet many new apprentices virtually. Due to the pandemic we have not been able to communicate face to face, however KPMG has arranged many calls, quizzes and social events!
Yes
I would definitely recommend this apprenticeship opportunity- its such a great opportunity to develop skills working in a professional environment as well as working on your own professional qualification. The balance between the two has not been intense and the amount of support provided to new joiner and apprentices in general has been great!
I would definitely say to research and look into the firms values and see how they correspond with the skills and abilities you hold. Also to look online at interview questions and be confident in the skills and capabilities you hold. Show a good interest to the firm and be yourself!
