  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Assisting with audits of a range of entities such as NHS Trusts, Housing Associations and many more. Typically, I assist with testing and also conduct meetings with entites to understand their financial processes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed many existing skills such as communication and time management through my role as an audit apprentice. I have also learned many new skills including professional scepticism.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme lots. I particularly like the culture at KPMG. I feel that even as a new member of staff I am respected and that people care about my wellbeing and professional development. The work is also vaired fast paced.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We have time built into our diarys to acheive our required off the job learning target of 20%. It is well organised and we have many opportunites to build on this, not just collage tuition!

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have a range of colleagues who provide support to us. My performance manager is a go to colleague for any questions and challanges I am facing. They are always really receptive and are very proactive in supporting me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive collague tuition as well as access to a resource hub. This gives us an opportunity to practice exam style questions even after our tuition is complete. We also have quarterly progress calls to review how we are getting on and set targets for future development.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Our qualifications provide a great foundation knowledge of accounting which really helps to understand and add some context to the work we are carrying out. As we progress we will be undertaking more specialised exams relevant to our specific role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is an extensive range of extra curricular activities. Due to the size of the firm, there is always people with common interests and there are lots of committees. Due to COVID restrictions, we have not been able to participate in team sport but I am looking forward to this.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I really enjoy working at KPMG. I feel it is really important to enjoy the work that you do and also to have a culture that you can really identify with. I feel respected and valued as a member of the team and that means a lot to me.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • I would take a good read of the firms values and code of conduct and consider how they fit with your own values. They are a really important part of working at KPMG and underpin everything you do.
