  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role consists of admin work, editing work papers, conducting some testing over some numbers - eg vouching the amounts to invoices and deeming them appropriate. Perhaps enquiring things with the client to gain a better understanding of the support they have sent. And also using judgement to document the findings appropriately.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my analytical skills, through searching through information that the client has sent and deciding whether it be sufficient for our testing. I have also developed and enhanced my communication skills as we require alot of back and forth with the client, so in order to avoid that my communication skills has improved by being very clear and consice in what i require from them, being time efficient too.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Id say it isnt the most enjoyable at the moment as we are working from home so team interaction is far less than whatit would be if we were in the office working more collabertively. Starting a new job from home isnt the best experience. But virtual meet ups and socials does ease the experience and help us get to know eachother better.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised, I think another induction back in the office would be helpful to get to know other people on the programme as we havent been able to meet anyone, also an indepth timeline of what to expect and what we should be working toward. It is difficult to think about our off the job learning when work is so busy with busy season etc. So maybe setting aside actual time toward our learning would be beneficial

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We recieve an adequete amount of support, we are kind of thrown into the world of work which is expected in such a big firm with heavy deadlines. And we also have access to a Performance Manager who is there for our mental wellbeing and support. However with everyonbe being so busy all the time, this accessmay be restricted as people have less time for calls to dicuss such matters.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive an adequete amount of support, i think as we are learning virtually there doesnt feel like much support, we arent aware of the next tuition dates for example. and the college days being one day per coursebook is quite alot to process. But i guess if we were in the actual classroom it wouldbe more interactive and we would be able to learn better. Its difficult to engage and process the information from behind a screen.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe the qualification is good in providing context to the work we carry out everyday. As there is no time for our incharges to provide in depth explanations as to why we are carrying out certain testing etc. So our qualification provides the basis we need to understand what our line of work involves

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are loads of societies and different channels to get involved in such as becoming a digital ninja or being part of a religious society where you can engage with people you share common interests in which is nice if you have the time away from work to get involved with something abit more light

  • 9a. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • If you are prepared to be thrown into the world of work and sometimes late hours then its great for the experience and learning what an actual job entails, maybe as soon as leaving school it is a huge jump from the sort of safe and guided environment into a world of responsibility, but overall its a great experience

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • I would say be prepared for whats to come, and really research the line of work and what it entails. And really grasp any opportunity that comes your way. also ensure to maintain a heakthy work life balance as it could sometimes get really easy to get lost in the work and neglect the balance
