My day-to-day role includes helping with the general duties of audits. I work within a team, doing jobs in various areas of the audit. I also spend 20% of my time learning, this includes exam tutition, revision and courses to develop my skills. I work from home for my role.
Yes, I've learnt many new business skills such as how to communicate in a business manner, e.g. writing effective emails. I've also developed my personal communication skills- gaining confidence in meeting new people. I have learned how to be independent with my work and pushed myself to achieve great things.
I enjoy the apprenticeship, however, due to the pandemic I do feel like unfortunately my experience has been massively altered and therefore potetnially not as enjoyable as it could have been. This is due to not being able to meet colleagues face to face which is really challenging. Hopefully this will change soon.
I feel it is really well structured- we are given ad advanced shcedule so we know exactly when our exams will be which is really useful for booking holidays etc. We also don't have exams during busy season so that makes revision much easier. The exams are intense but this is a good things, we have 3 weeks between college and the exam.
I feel there's enough support. We have regular check-in calls and lots of emails offering where we can go for support. There's also a wide network of apprentices so there's always support from fellow peers too. Support I find can be difficult during busy season as colleagues are very buys, however, this isn't the case at other times during the year
I feel the support from BPP could be better. We have catch up calls every 3 months, these are long and very detailed calls, however, I'd prefer to have more regular but less lengthy calls as it can be difficult to try and reflect on 3 months worth of learning at once.
the course is very well suited to my job roe- the exams are selected to which are most relevent to my position which is really useful, adn we did some introductory exams at a lower level too to ease us into the world of accoutning which was really beneficiall I found.
This is hard to comment on as I have only been in my apprenticeship during Covid-19 and therefore, social events have all been cancelled due to social restrictions. However, I have been informed by my colleagues that social events are a regular things when covid isn't around so this is something I'm looking forward to.
Yes
It's a brillaint apprenticeship and a great opportunity, everyone at my work is really friendly and super happy to help and feel that KMPG is the best place to be to start my career in accounting. I feel I will make good business connections and rrally succed from the support of KMPG.
Be confident and remeber that everyone has to start somewhere. It can be really daunting entering a job where everyone seems to know everything and you know nothing, hoeever, everyone is so understanding. Don't be afraid to ask questions, as confidence will come across well as it's so important.
