  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • IBM have given me a Software Testing role which helps me build lots of useful experience. I have experience analysing my clients test requirements, creating test plans, executing test scripts and analysing test results.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am continuously learning new skills at IBM. For example, I am always improving my confidence and communicational skills through taking to clients, my team and managers. I have also built my IT Consulting skills through various analysis and my testing knowledge through various forms of testing

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my course so far as I am gaining lots of valuable experience along with learning key skills from my degree. I also have lots of support in the work I do and developing my career

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My company organise and structure my programme with key checkpoints and meetings along the way to check progress. The only improvement would be that the university give us key dates more in advance.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I couldn't receive anymore support from my employeer than I already do. I have lots of key people I can talk to for any questions or concerns I have.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There are many people who I can go to when needing support when taking training courses and working towards qualifications. There are lots of people who will help with concerns and questions as well as making sure everyone is included

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification is a major assistance with my role as it helps me understand the concepts and ideas that are used in the workplace. I can also bring some of the techniques that IT Consultants use in my workplace to improve processes.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • IBM have many activities that I can get involved in to expand my network. They also have a great apprentice community where I can meet lots of young people my age which makes starting your apprenticeship a lot more relaxed and enjoyable.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because IBM have a brilliant reputation and are doing well. I have also really enjoyed my apprenticeship so far and believe that is is a great way to start your carerr and gain your qualifications.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
  • Make sure that you are open about your interests and what skills you have. Also, do your reasearch about the company and their values beforehand.
