  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, I work within the sales department for Ireland and take calls/ emails and answer any sales queries, e.g. unit availability. Also I work through the backlog, which is where we have orders that are not shipping and see what the reason is for it.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since working at Tech Data I have developed skills, such as communicating with customers via email/ phone in a concise so I am easy to understand. Also I have learnt how to manage my tasks as we usually have a lot of tasks to do. Furthermore I have learnt how to prioritize tasks and make sure I do tasks that are most time sensitive first.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed the programme as it allowed me to learn new things whilst also earning at the same time. The programme provided training, such as Natural Training as it went through in detail how to approach a sales query. Also it was informative as well as fun with every session.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was very organised as it had a clear timeline of what we had to do at each stage. At the beginning of the apprenticeship we were based in the classroom learning how to work the systems and setting everything up. Then we progressively starting being on the phones more often.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer whenever I have a problem Tech Data are always able to assist. For example: when I was starting out it was challenging but with Tech Data and my fellow colleagues assistance, they were able to help me through any issue I may have had or any questions.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I also received a lot of support from the training provider as I had meetings with my apprentice coach every month to see how I was doing and what I needed to complete. Nearer the end of my apprenticeship, my apprentice coach had more frequent calls with me to sharpen up my portfolio and to help me with the interview.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification through my training provider has helped me perform better in my role as not only did my apprentice coach assist me with my portfolio, he also asked me real life questions about the 5 British values (Democracy, The rule of law, Liberty, Respect and Tolerance). By understanding more about these I am able to work ethically correct.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not that I am aware of, however around the different holidays Tech Data send out activities/ gifts to their colleagues. For example: this Easter Tech Data sent out chocolates to every colleague to have an Easter egg hunt. Therefore everyone can get involved and share their Easter holiday with everyone.

  • 9a. Would you recommend TD SYNNEX to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Tech Data to a friend as it is a very welcoming and positive atmosphere to be around. Tech Data take great care of their colleagues; for example: Tech Data have a mental health button, which puts you into contact with someone to help you through a challenging time.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TD SYNNEX?
  • I would advise others that when coming to Tech Data to stay on top of any work and prioritize as there is always a lot of work to be done. Also I would recommend to utilize every tool that Tech Data provide so that you can work easily and efficiently, such as our InTouch website.
