  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role consists of providing solutions, advice and technical assistance to customers who may already have a hardware environment set up, or are looking for a new solution to match their requirements. It is part of my job to ask the questions necessary to provide a suitable solution for their business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to vastly expand my understanding and knowledge of servers and storage, as well as learning about the many components that support the hardware. The course has also provided me insight into different areas of IT, such as DevOps, Cybersecurity, Networking, Comptia, Cloud Computing and ITIL, to name a few. This has given me a well-rounded view of the IT industry.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I've found the programme really enjoyable. I've found the company's culture is very healthy in terms of support, training and inclusion, as I always feel like I can reach out if I'm in need of any extra help. The team I am on has also been fantastic. My manager and coworkers have always made it clear that they're always happy to give me their time when needed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • On the whole, the programme has been mostly well organised and structured. There were a few bumps at the beginning, mostly due to COVID affecting how courses were carried out, and it did take a while to gain momentum. This has also been the first of this type of course to be run, so it can be expected that there will be some small organisation-related issues. However, this has all been mitigated by the fact that we were provided with excellent support throughout, and I'm positive that if the course is run again, it will be carried out very smoothly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Tech Data has provided a lot of support throughout the programme. The support has been provided through various channels, such as via my coworkers, my manager, director and the apprenticeship manager. I have always felt that I can approach any of them with an issue and we'll be able to work through it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The provider has given adequate support throughout the programme. There have been fairly regular meetings arranged to update on progress and an opportunity for questions and queries. The meetings have become more frequent towards the end of the programme as it's crucial to ensure we're ready for the final exams.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • 10/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • During COVID, the company has had to pull back on social events and activities, but normally there is a Social Club that will, on a quarterly basis, arrange a venue or activity e.g. Flight Club in Manchester for all members to attend. The company will also hold pool competitions, golf clubs, and socialising at local pubs/clubs after work. These are expected to slowly return as and when it's determined to be safe and responsible.

  • 9a. Would you recommend TD SYNNEX to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Techdata has a great work culture, and has worked hard to provide its employees with the support needed for their ambitions within the company e.g. when working towards a promotion, or changing job roles. As long as anyone who is interested in applying to work here is willing to learn and has the right attitude, there shouldn't be any barriers for achieving their potential.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TD SYNNEX?
  • As mentioned in the previous answer, the right attitude, a willingness to learn and an open demeanor will go a long way when interviewing for the job you want. Often, people will need to be the right 'fit', and any relevant experience will also make them an even better candidate.
