  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In a sales executive role, mainly consists of communicating with customers and offering a sales service. This involves answering questions and queries regarding products and orders. Daily tasks include replying to customer emails, tracking sales opportunities, and calling out to customers on specific activities. I speak to other internal teams on a daily basis, whether its to assist in a query or offer a better service to the customer.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since the start of my apprenticeship I have had the opportunity to learn and develop new skills. I am much more confident in communication, now with both internal and external contacts I feel much more comfortable. During the course we receive extensive sales training, which developed my skills in selling over the phone to another level.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the programme, and the people I work with. It is great to work within a team and within the companies great culture. TechData has gone above and beyond what I expected in terms of how much they care to improve your skills and development within your role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organisation of the programme is very well aligned to your development in the role. We are slowly exposed to the sales environment from classroom training on the systems, to technical and sales training. I didn't feel rushed at any point, and felt comfortable in the new areas/information we were moved into.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • TechData has always made me feel able to speak to someone with any concerns I may have. I have extensive access to support from management, as well as internal systems that offer additional training and skills. TechData have a great general attitude towards supporting their employees, as this is a large part of their culture.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our training provider offer an apprenticeship coach who tracks and assists in your progress from start to finish. We are offered an abundance of guidance and support on each steps towards reaching the qualification, and have a great attitude in getting the best out of yourself. I have really enjoyed working with the training provider as they made the process much easier.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The skills I have gained from completing the qualification have really helped within my role. It has given me a much better view of areas in which I have skill gaps, and areas in which I excel. Overall, I am now much more aware of the industry and job role as whole.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • TechData have many company events with the opportunity of getting involved in, in addition to social events. We have the opportunity to get involved in charity work within the local community, overall TechData are very supportive of the the community as a whole and always advertises and promotes the social events on offer.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a great way to start a sales career and improve your confidence skills. I can be a great introduction to an office environment and a great way to earn while you learn. Its a great opportunity to learn about the IT distribution industry and understand business as a whole.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TD SYNNEX?
  • I would advise that those applying to be open to learning new skills and developing themselves. Being able to manage your time effectively, and keep track of work towards your qualification. I'd best advise to retain as much knowledge as you can alongside keeping a log of your progress.
