  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My Apprenticeship at Tech Data has been amazing! Although the start was quite classroom heavy, this was absolutely fine as there is a lot to learn in a short amount of time. After the classroom learning you apply a lot of this learning on the job. Throughout the apprenticeship I gained a lot of experience in areas I wouldn't have if I went elsewhere, and this has definitely helped in my career so far. The people and the work Ethos at Tech Data is above and beyond what I expected, and I am very glad that I chose Tech Data to complete an apprenticeship

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I would say throughout my apprenticeship I have gained a lot of skills, but also progressed on skills that I already had. I would say one of the biggest things for me is that my confidence in myself has grown massively since I joined Tech Data, and that has definitely translated into my progression of my career

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I would say the first few months are slightly tedious as previously stated, but this is due to learning and working out the systems, some may find this quite boring but I did not seem this was the case, I thought the learning was absolutely necessary to excel and enjoy the other parts of the apprenticeship. Overall I would say I enjoyed the experience

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Overall the programme is very well structured, using outlook to place meetings / zoom calls, when we were in the office there were meetings and structured plans that were layed out and for most of the time, these plans were stuck to, so I would say I was aware of what was going to happen multiple weeks in advance

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Tech Data have been fantastic at supporting employees, this could be your team leader or manager, they are always there to help you in yourself or help improve your career. Tech Data also have confidential mental health first aiders, which I have not seen before in a business, since the pandemic we have also introduced mindfulness sessions for our staff

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Overall, GK were good at providing support, this is due to the trainers being available to help support us with our work, I could send over my project / portfolio work and James would be able to tell me areas were I might need a little bit more detail, or I needed to change something, but the trainers would always ask me about my career and my general life when talking to them

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that with my qualification I have learnt extra skills and have extra knowledge that I would not have if I did not do the qualification, so overall I would happily say that I have performed better knowing I have a qualification to support my work and my role,

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Before the Pandemic, there were many extra curricular activities that Tech Data offered, there was a social club of some sorts that offered a vast amount of activities every month, some of these could include crazy golf, or maybe even a trip to the cinema, but overall there was many different activities that Tech Data offer to colleagues

  • 9a. Would you recommend TD SYNNEX to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Tech Data is a very friendly workplace with many different people creating a huge family vibe, the ethos when we were in the office was great, and many people will speak to you like you have been there for years when you first start, which makes 'fitting in' a lot easier

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TD SYNNEX?
  • If they are going through the apprenticeship, make sure you start your portfolio early! as this will help you in the long run. Furthermore, make sure that you stay on top of all apprentice work, as when you go into a sales team, you will have a lot more on your plate than you did previously. So just make sure you stay on top of all work
