1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

10/10

On a day to day basis I will perform testing on different accounts within the financial statements to gain comfort on the figures that the client provides to us. I am in close contact with client and am always on calls with them to acquire the relevant support that I need to complete my testing.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

10/10

I have drastically improved my excel skills and feel very confident to make good quality workbooks. I am always improving my communication as i am speaking to many new and different people every day. I have developed a lot of knowledge about the accounting profession including how to perform an audit and what is actually required to complete this.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

10/10

I think the structure is very high quality as I am always being emailed updates to let me know when I have to submit things by and I can clearly see my schedule so I know when I have college. The communication is very clear and I have a lot of support if I have any issues with anything at all.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

10/10

I receive a lot of support, there are many different networks of people who I can contact. I have my councilor who is very helpful, I also have a buddy who is always available to speak to me. There is the apprenticeship team and of course the team I am working in who are all great people who help me with anything I need.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

10/10

My training provider is very supportive, during college they are always getting us to ask questions that we have and then when college is finished they say to email them with any questions we have then we an go on a call or just speak via email about any questions that there are.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

10/10

My qualification teaches me direct skills and information that relate back to the role I am doing on a daily basis. Recently I have attended college for Assurance and it has made me understand more about my actual role. This will make me more efficient when working on a client and I will be able to help my team even more.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

10/10

There are many teams and social activities, even now with COVID. prior to COVID there were many sports teams but COVID has stopped this for now. During the pandemic the social committee has been amazing as they have been putting on many quizzes and other social events to keep everyone feeling healthy and happy.

9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?

I would and I have as during my time here, although short, I have had such a great experience so far. I am learning an amazing skill that will be with me for life and I am meeting so many great people. I enjoy the work, the people and the social activities that are put on too.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?

During the early stages of the application process focus on the answers and be yourself. Once you get to the interview stages, make sure to be yourself and show that you can speak clearly and confidently. Don't just make it 100% about work, show that you are human and not a robot!
