  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day I clean the salon making sure everything is clean and tidy. I greet the clients and sit them down and gown them up ready for their stylist. I answer the phone and book clients in. I get all the stylists equipment and products ready for them to use

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a lot from the people I work with in the salon and the tdo that comes out to me. I learned new skills in doing hair I am confident in blow drying and some cuts and colours. I have learned skills I can use around the salon and in life.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the program a lot as I get a lot of attention in my learning and know if there is anything I am struggling with I have the help I need to improve and get better. I enjoy all the practical work and feel confident in the program.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the program is well organised as lockdown stopped us from working in the salon realise organised zoom classes for us to attend. we did theory and practical sessions for the practical they got professional hairdressers of Instagram or that worked in a certain aspect of hair and I really enjoyed them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive loads of support from my employer and the other staff. we do a lot of training when we have the time. And they help me with the things I’m not sure on and I know If I have any questions I can ask them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get a lot of supports from my TDO she answers any questions I have and provides any help I may need. I have her number so I can message or call her when I need to.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Any questions I have always get answered and I am always pushed to do better by my tdo and the staff In the salon. I am always being given things to do in the salon like practice certain things on my block or theory work to complete. My tdo never puts stress on me and is very understanding.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As I work in a small salon we don’t have extra curricular activities but we do have social events to celebrate Christmas, like go out for a meal.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have recommended realise to a lot of my friends that are looking for apprenticeships. As they are amazing. They found me a salon near where I live to carry out my apprenticeship and gave me a tutor to help me complete maths and English. And have a TDO to help me complete my apprenticeship.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
  • Always ask for help and get the most out of learning from the TDO and stylists in the salon.
