My role is a care assistant, this is providing day to day to individuals who have a diagnosis of dementia. I am also medication trained, so my job involves dispensing and handling different medications including covert medication and also controlled drugs. I assist service users with personal care and making sure they live a happy, fulfilling life.
I have learnt many new skills while working at Housing with Care. My communication skills and knowledge around the Health & Social care sector have increased in many different ways. I now have more understanding of the day to day life of a health care professional and what their different job roles entail.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as the support i recieve from my tutor is amazing. My tutor is very supportive and answers any questions I may have, or anything that i may be struggling on. I also enjoy the challenges that the programme comes with, and the excitement of new subjects to learn about.
My programme is very well structured. I am able to log on via the online portal and view all work that i have been set by my tutor, including any criterias or extra help and guidance needed to guide me through that specific task. My tutor is very organised in her approach, and is always thorough.
I receive support from my employer while studying my Level 5 course. My employer supports me on practical tasks that may need carrying out, but also provides me with any paperwork or information I may need to progress within my course. My employer also liases with my tutor, to make sure that anything needed is provided.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider while im working towards achieving my Level 5. They are very organised in the way they set different criterias and tasks and seem to be very approachable. whenever any support is needed and are always willing to help wherever i need it.
My qualification has helped me massively with my performance within my role. I feel very much more confident especially when carrying out my role, in different aspects including communication skills with service users, coaching and mentoring any staff that are starting their role within the health and social care sector.
I get involved with extra training throughout the year, organised by my employer to assist in the development of my role. I also take part in any voluntary activites that may be available to participate in through my job. We also have professional team meetings that we attend to liase with fellow colleagues.
Yes
The company are very supportive in every aspect of my learning and development and make me feel very confident and that all of my hard work is always paying off. I would recommend them for anybody who is wanting to take a new path of learning to help towards theur career.
I would advise that any body applying to the company, that they did their research within the health and social care sector, if they are new to the proffession. But to also be themselves, and know that the job does come with its ups and downs just like any other.
