  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have grown my understanding of SQL and how scripts are created. I have also improved my presentation skills with Power BI. Throughout the apprenticeship when i was class room based it also improved my communication skills, having to explain my role to people that were outside of my company.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have experienced a lot of issues with my apprenticeship, with having a tutor that had given me the wrong steer on my portfolio, before being assigned a new tutor and advised me that a restart would be needed which had meant that i needed to restart. Which has made the apprenticeship a lot longer than that that was first told.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The sturcture of my apprenticeship was very poor. At the beginning i was not given the correct advise, meaning that instead of doing my portfolio side by side with my classroom sessions i have instead had to do this after. Now this is more of a box ticking exercise and is not as effective as i would have liked.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been very supportive of my apprenticeship. Allowing me time to complete tasks and attend the class room sessions and allowing more time than that that was first proposed. Very understanding of the challenges that i have experienced in my course. They have also allowed me to download the programmes that are needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My skills coach was not very supportive and was very hard to get into contact with outside of out 6 weekly meetings. My newly assigned skills coach is very supportive and answers my queries within 24 hours and has given a lot of support in getting my assignments complete in time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • i do not feel that i have gained as much as i had expected from the course, this is mainly to my bad experience. Though this has given me a bit more knowledge of SQL. I do not beleive that the course will improve my perfomance in my role as the time that has been wasted has affected it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • With the current situation there are limited events at the moment, whereas when in the office there was an abundance. There are a few online events that are accessable but numbers are limited. And as my company is global the times are not always preffered. But there are courses available on line.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • E.On is a good and stable place to work. There are a range of different areas and roles suited for different skill sets. They have a good range of benefits available for employees. There is place for learning, development and progression which is always promoted and accessable for all collegues.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • I would advise people to research the company so that they are aware of the products and the message of the company. On application i would advise them to use the STARR technique.- Situation, Task, Activity, Result and Reflection. And also to understand that if starting at the bottom there are opportunities to rise up the levels
